An “armed and dangerous” man accused of firing a gun in an upstate hospital and trying to shoot police officers may be hiding in Brooklyn, cops said Sunday.
Joshua Stuart, 42, fired a gun inside the Ellenville (N.Y.) Regional Hospital at about 1 a.m. Friday, according to state police.
He drove off in a white Dodge Ram 1500 and drove to Napanoch, where it was later found by state Department of Environmental Police. Stuart fired four or five shots at the officers, then ran into the nearby woods.
A statement issued by the hospital Friday morning said the initial shooting happened in the emergency department and involved a patient.
Police believe Stuart was last seen in Sunset Park and Flatbush.
He’s described as 5-foot-8 and about 155 pounds, and was last seen wearing jeans, white sneakers, a hospital gown and a black coat with white stripes.
Cops are asking anyone who spots him to call 911 immediately, and not engage him.
“Joshua Stuart is believed to be in possession of a semi-automatic pistol and extremely dangerous,” the state police said in a release on Facebook.
