The 8 best outdoor heaters to keep your patio warm in fall and winter

Published

on

While plenty of us were sad to see summer go, fall is officially here and cold weather is on the horizon! And before you know it, you’ll start swapping out your favorite pumpkin spice lattes for peppermint mochas, storing away your Halloween costume and throwing on your favorite knit sweaters — all festive notions that winter is here.

And while we’re sure you’ll be planning a ski trip or two during the snowy winter months, it’s likely you’ll be spending more time indoors, but it doesn’t have to be that way!

With the help of a good quality outdoor heater, you can comfortably spend time in a more pandemic-friendly patio setting right in your home.

Whether you’re looking for an electric outdoor heater, a heater with a propane tank or a small and portable option, we rounded up the best outdoor heaters to make your winter that much more enjoyable.

Best Electric Outdoor Heaters

1. Briza Infrared Patio Heater, $200

If you’re looking for an electric outdoor heater, consider the Briza Infrared Patio Heater that’s currently on sale for $250. The infrared rays emitted are easily absorbed by the items in your surroundings which gently increase the temperature in your space unlike other heaters that may unevenly distribute heat.

2. Permasteel 1500 Watt Electric Patio Heater, $300

The Permasteel electric patio heater is ideal for those who may not have a ton of surface area because it’s so thin. It also uses infrared heating which gravitates toward objects and people instead of the surrounding air. It’s on wheels so it’s easy to move, too.

Best Propane Outdoor Heaters

1. Frontgate Commercial Patio Heater, $449, original price: $499

Frontgate’s Commercial Patio Heater has an output of 46,000 BTUs and will take the chill out of any cool evenings so you can relax and enjoy the outdoors in comfort. It’s designed with wheels for easy portability, a wide base for stability and uses a standard 20 pound LPG tank (not included).

2. Hampton Bay Stainless Steel Propane Patio Heater, $157

This Hampton Bay heater is made with high-quality stainless steel so it’s extra durable and should last you many years to come. Although it is refurbished, it is tested and certified to look and work like brand new.

3. Frontgate Sundry Patio Heater, $1,079, original price: $1,199

If you’re willing to spend a little extra cash, consider this Sundry propane patio heater from Frontgate. The burner and reflector are crafted with durable stainless steel and aluminum set in a glass tube to help evenly diffuse the heat. It puts out 50,000 BTUs and warms up to 6 feet. The 25% off sale kicks in at checkout.

Best Small & Portable Outdoor Heaters

1. Bali Outdoors Patio Tabletop Heater, $100

If you don’t have a ton of space or would rather not invest a ton of money quite yet, a small, portable heater is the way to go. This tabletop, propane option from Amazon only weighs 14 pounds (and uses a one pound tank) so it’s lightweight and super easy to carry. It will keep you warm for about 2 hours but if you need more time to stay warm, you can always buy a converter to connect a 20 pound propane tank.

2. Mr. Heater Portable Outdoor Buddy Propane Gas Space Heater, $90, original price: $140

The Mr. Heater portable, outdoor space heater is great for outdoor enthusiasts. It can increase temperatures in enclosed spaces up to 225 square feet so it’s ideal for tents, campers, garages, barns, a hunting blind or tailgating. It has a high and low setting, a folding carry handle and just one knob to control it all.

3. Remington Patented Electric Space Heater, $59

The Remington electric space heater warms up in seconds, is cool to the touch with “Kool-Guard Technology”, has two heat settings for convenience and operates very quietly.

Actress Anne Heche Suffers Severe Burns After Crashing Car Into Los Angeles Home

Published

on

Actress Anne Heche, known for her roles in such films as Donnie Brasco, Volcano and I Know What You Did Last Summer, was involved in a fiery car crash in the Mar Vista area of Los Angeles on Friday.

According to TMZ, Heche was driving a blue Mini Cooper and had first crashed into the garage of an apartment complex. Residents of the apartment complex tried to get her out of the vehicle but she backed up and sped off.

Footage of Heche speeding down the streets of her neighborhood had been obtained by TMZ as well as her initial encounter at the apartment complex.

In the first clip, you can hear her car crash towards the end. It has been reported that the actress crashed into someone’s home, causing her vehicle and the house to erupt into flames. Heche suffered severe burns and was resisting being taken away in a stretcher. You can also view footage of this via the TMZ article.

It has not been confirmed whether alcohol has been involved in the incident since her condition prevents doctors from performing any tests to determine if she was driving under the influence. She is currently intubated in the hospital but expected to live.

These are the vulgar license-plate requests the DMV has rejected

Published

Stay CL4SSY, New York!

The state Department of Motor Vehicles nixed 3,752 requests for vanity license plates in the last three years because it deemed them too raunchy, radical or simply ridiculous.

New York’s personalized plates go for $60 initially, and then $31.25 annually for renewal. You can get any plate as long as no one else has it and it’s not offensive.

Odds are a request for a plate that marks a wedding anniversary or shows your allegiance to a team — like METS86 — will pass muster with the DMV gatekeepers.

Vulgarity won’t get you to first base.

So plates with the phrase LFGM — the acronym for Pete Alonso’s “Let’s F–king Go Mets” rallying cry — did not make the cut.

And you won’t see anyone driving around with the custom plates MILFDAD, AS5M4N and WLHUNG.

Crude meanings such as “MILFDAD” are unacceptable by the DMV.

The DMV also put NICEBUNS, FATFANNY, GOTAPOOP and BENDOVER in the rear-view mirror.

One player unsuccessfully tried to score the plate YESDADDY, to no avail.

The DMV also shot down such dark requests as DEADGIRL, GENOC1DE, S8TAN, DETONATE and MURDERM3.

Getting political is a dead end too — FJOEBIDN, FDTRUMP and CNNLIES were nixed.

LUDEDUDE, NARCO, GOT METH and BLUNT also went up in smoke.

Staten Island attorney Bill Dertinger said his blue 1995 Jaguar SJS was tagged with ESQLTD after his company and his 2014 Porsche had the plate GHOSTGTS because the sleek sportscar was white.

“The plates can make you stand out — which can be a curse or a blessing,” the 54-year-old Dertinger said. “Make sure you don’t cut anybody off.”

There must be a New York Jets fan playing referee at the DMV because a request for the seemingly innocent plate GASE was sidelined. Ex-Jets head coach Adam Gase had an offensive 9-23 win-loss record during his forgettable two-year tenure.

The DMV would not reveal who gives the final yea or nay.

“The DMV reviews all custom license plate requests and works hard to ensure that any combinations that may be considered objectionable are rejected,” said agency spokesman Tim O’Brien.

He said guidelines on what plate combinations are restricted can be found on the DMV website: https://dmv.ny.gov/learn-about-personalized-plates. Approximately 50,000 personalized and custom plates are sold per year, O’Brien said.
